Seafile-Help: Windows 7

Windows 7

The Seafile client for Windows 7 can be downloaded at www.seafile.com/en/download/.

Save the .msi file and open it with a double-click. This will start the installation.

Follow the dialogue.

During installation, another confirmation prompt appears. This asks for the password with which you logged in to the computer you're working on.

After installation, you must specify a folder on your computer where the Seafile libraries will be stored. The files that you exchange or synchronize are stored in this directory.

Now you have to add an account in the following window. Do not enter the requested data here, but click on Shibboleth-Login at the bottom left of the window.

A new window opens in which you can select your university or college.

You will be redirected to the login page of your educational institution. Enter your login name and password here.

The registration server of your university or college will tell Seafile that you have successfully logged in.

Download the standard library (or more if available).

After installation, the Seafile client will start.

Normally, the Seafile client always runs in the background after the first setup and periodically checks the folder where the files to be synchronized are stored.

To turn off automatic synchronization, click on the small triangle (1) in the task bar at the bottom right. This can be used to display programs running in the background. Among the displayed program icons is the Seafile logo (2). Right-click on the Seafile logo to open the settings, and then uncheck the box for automatic start.
